This is Progress.
After seven and a half years, let's look back at the road we've traveled: America is back to work, with 14.8 million private-sector jobs created over the last 76 months. Unemployment has declined from 10 percent to 4.9 percent. We cut our deficit from 9.8 percent of GDP in 2009 to 2.5 percent today. Health care is no longer a privilege for a few, but a right for all. More of our troops are home with their families, with fewer than 15,000 remaining in Iraq and Afghanistan. Clean energy is increasingly powering America's homes and businesses. And where there were only four states in 2009 that recognized the right to marry the person you love, love won. That's progress.

Our Diversity is Our Strength: The 26th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act
"At a time when so many doubted that people with disabilities could contribute to our economy or support their families, the Americans with Disabilities Act assumed they could, and guided the way forward. Today, as we reflect on the courage and commitment of all who made this achievement possible, let us renew our obligation to extend the promise of the American dream to all our people, and let us recommit to building a world free of unnecessary barriers and full of deeper understanding of those living with disabilities." -- President Obama on the 26th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act |

Throwback Thursday |

Six years ago on July 28, the President traveled to Edison, New Jersey to discuss the economy and understand the hardships facing small business owners. Since taking office, President Obama has acted aggressively to rebuild our economy on a stronger long-term foundation, restart growth and job creation, encourage entrepreneurs to start new businesses, and expand opportunity for all Americans.
