Agricultural Marketing Service Administrator Anne Alonzo to Discuss Local and Regional Food Grants
WASHINGTON, March 17, 2015 – TODAY, USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) Administrator Anne Alonzo will discuss the importance of USDA’s local and regional food efforts, including the availability of grants to support local and regional producers of health, wholesome foods and to help ensure every American has access to nutritious food.
AMS oversees several grant programs, including the Farmers Market and Local Food Program which comprises two types of grants: the Farmers Market Promotion Program (FMPP) designed to expand direct producer-to-consumer market opportunities and the Local Food Promotion Program (LFPP) intended to develop, improve, and/or expand local and regional food business enterprise supply chain activities (non-direct-to-consumer).
