WASHINGTON, D.C, April 16 – TODAY, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will discuss the role of smart, collaborative science can play in feeding the world at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs Global Food Security Symposium.
Immediately following, he will attend the Global Child Nutrition Foundation Annual Gala Reception where he will receive the organization's Gene White Lifetime Achievement Award for Child Nutrition.
With investments in innovative nutrition and food aid programs, research and conservation, the USDA continues to work toward finding solutions to combat poverty and food insecurity among vulnerable children and families, at home and around the world. Over the past six years, USDA's international food aid programs benefited approximately 48.3 million individuals globally, with assistance valued at nearly $2.2 billion.
